6 Months of Pegasus

Pegasus-Group-Trustees and Regional Committee

Just 6 months ago Pegasus Riding for the Disabled Group was launched by the trustee group of Gill, Helen, Katy, Klaudia and Cath. And what a success it has been!

We had no idea if any riders would be interested in our venture, or if we would attract enough volunteers to run 2 lessons a week. Fortunately, we’ve been overwhelmed by riders and volunteers wanting to be involved which has been amazing.

Vital Volunteers

Already we have an amazing volunteer team of over 20 strong with 16 holding full Green Cards, and everyone else is just weeks away from getting their Green Cards and Team Pegasus Polo-Shirt!
Since our launch we have also had Hughie join us as a Parent Representative Trustee which is an essential role for the Group, and Caz is joining as Volunteer Representative helping with Charity Event coordination.

Ready to go Riders

Our rider community is 25 strong with riders ranging from 4years old to >50years old. The demand is so great that in May we extended the lessons to 3 lessons per week from 2. This was an ambition for the group to achieve by February 2018, the commitments of the volunteers, coaches and trustees has made this happen 8 months early! Huge well done to everyone!

We even managed to fit in our own Summer Show which was a fantastic day for everyone involved! I think we’ll do it again!

Amazing Fundraising

There has been quite amazing success so far with fundraising! Helen, Klaudia and Jade ran the Manchester 10k and raised a whopping £2,000! Helen’s friend Rowena completed an IronMan (!) and raised £600, and a fabulous old friend of the group has raised £200 through selling cards and gifts! On top of that, Julie has taken the reigns and lead the way in Car Boots Sales, Raffles and books sales and has already raised over £300!

A big thank you must also go to the RDA North West Committee who helped us financially (and emotionally!) in setting the group up with funds for essential equipment and our new shed!

Get Involved

We are currently seeking funds for rider subsidies, show jumping training, Christmas activities and funds towards a new surface in the arena and potentially our own pony! Any ideas (or funds!) are warmly welcomed!

The next 6 months will be equally exciting. Look out for our Halloween and Christmas rides, Rider Progression Trackers, Endeavour Awards, Horses Care & Riding Certificates, Volunteer Pathways and Show Jumping Training!

A massive thank you to everyone involved who makes this happen, the success of Pegasus is down to the amazing team involved!

Look forward to seeing you soon and continuing our wonderful journey!
